Paul is worried about taking the university's English proficiency exam. He has gotten in touch with Mike to ask about it.

Paul：So what's the proficiency test like？
那麼英語能力測驗都怎麼考？

Mike：Well,there are a hundred multiple-choice questions. For each question, you select the best answer out of four possible choices.
嗯，有一百題選擇題。每個題目，從四個可能的選項中，選出一個最合適的。

Paul：What does the exam cover？
考試範圍呢？

Mike：Basic English grammar and sentence structure. You are also required to write a short essay. And this is followed by an oral exam, conducted by people from the English department.
基本的英文文法和句型結構。而英文系有人跟你口試後，你還需要寫篇短文。

Paul：How will the test affect my stay here？ If I fail, will they send me home？
測驗的結果會不會影響我留在這裡就讀？如果我沒考過，他們會不會送我回國？

Mike：I'm sure you won't fail！Besides, at worst, you'd be placed in Basic English, level one, the lowest-level course.
我確定你不會不過的！再說，頂多就是被編到基礎班第一級，上最初級的課程。

Paul：Then it would take nine months for me to complete my English studies, wouldn't it？
然後我就得花上九個月的時間來修剛我的英文課，是不是？

Mike：Well, you might have to repeat a few classes out of the nine levels. But when you reach level eight, you can take some regular courses.
嗯，你可能得重複修習一些這九級中的課。不過當你達到第八級時，就可以修一些一般課程。

Paul：I see. I guess I'll have to work hard either way.
我知道了。我想不管怎麼樣我都得努力就是了。
