Situation情境
John sees that May is acting different. He learns she is discouraged about her weight and tries to offer comfort and encouragement.
約翰發覺梅舉止怪異。他知道她為體重增加而感到沮喪,因此試圖給予她安慰及鼓勵。

Dialogue對話

John:May,I had no idea that you were so depressed.
   Why didn't you say something sooner?
   梅,我不知道妳這麼沮喪。妳為什麼不早點說?

May:Well, women just don't want to admit they are fat!
   嗯,女人就是不想承認自己胖啊!

John:To tell you the truth, I hardly noticed.
   老實說,我幾乎沒注意到。

May:That's probably because you have been working late and I am usually ready for bed when you get home.
那或許是因為你一直都工作到很晚,而當你回來的時候,我通常都準備睡覺了。

John:Well,do you want to make some changes in your lifestyle?
   那,妳想在生活方式上些改變嗎?

May:I don't know. I think I am in a rut staying home all the time.
   我不知道。我想我已經習慣一天到晚待在家裡的生活方式。

John:The baby's older now and could go to a sitter once in a while.
   現在寶寶已經大一點了,可以偶爾請保姆帶一下。

May:That would probably be good for both of us.
   那可能對我們兩個都有好處。

John:Maybe you would like to go to a gym and get a personal trainer to help you.
   或許妳想上健身房請個私人教練幫妳。

May:I am too embarrassed to put on workout clothes in front of someone else.
   我覺得太尷尬了,我無法在別人面前穿運動服。

John:Come on, May. You've got to take that first step.
   拜託,梅。妳必須踏出第一步。


May:It's hard, John. I've never felt so bad about myself before.
   這很難啊,約翰。我以前從未覺得自己這麼糟過。


John:How about I find the time to go with you?
   那我找時間陪妳一起去好不好?

May:Would you really do that?It would mean so much to me.
   你真的願意這麼做嗎?那對我很重要。

John:May, I'd do anything to help you. I love you.

May:I love you,too,John.
