Kia ora(Hello), dear Taiwan, it's my turn now to be a mirror to reflect back at you, as to see the full beauty of your love, and how I truly felt. Taiwan was a place where men and women would reach out and give to those in need. Throughout my search for my son, Reuben, against all odds, I was encouraged on by acts of great love and compassion with encouraging calls of Ji-ho, ji-ho. Taiwanese people are truly unique with their kindness and generosity.
Without such kindness, as a common man and father from a far off land, I could not have had the strength to have continued this by myself. Every time I fell, I was picked up by these acts of great love, bringing balance back to the core and essence of my spirit. This I will never forget. Ever.
I dedicate this book to the loving memory of a most wonderful son and friend, Reuben, doing what he liked to do most; exploring and being at one with nature. Ka haere moke atu a ia kit e koraha(to he whom went into the wildness alone).
And to my friends.
With AROHA(love).
